WELCOME
The Romans brought medicine to Market Weighton in about AD 70. Things then went a little bit quiet for a couple of thousand years (give or take the odd Viking invasion) until a doctor set up shop in Londesborough Road in the 1840s.
The first recognisable roots of the current Market Weighton Practice began with Dr. R Ashwin in the second decade of the 20th century, whose surgery originally lay opposite the current premises.
The Practice moved to its existing site in 1964. The modern health centre as it then was has been extended so many times that it is unrecognisable and now includes the existing next door property as well.
In 1994 the practice had 6645 patients. The list size has risen gradually over the last 16 years to its present size of 8600 patients. Our aim is to provide a good quality services and health care to our patients. We believe that this is best achieved in partnership with our patients.
